Elements

In Elements, I explored the liminal space between painting, collage, and installation. Shown at Finch Lane Gallery in Salt Lake City in 2015, the theme of this show was the four classical elements (earth, fire, wind, and water), as representative of the simultaneous diversity and unity in the natural world — a search for synthesis in the spaces that form a unified whole from apparently incongruous parts. The overall layout was 21’ 7” x 34’ 11” and corresponded with the geometry of the golden section. There was also an interactive element (no pun intended) as users were encouraged to run their hands along the wind chimes as they walked through the exhibit, to express the element of wind.
